Total Care,
The Akaishi Difference!
AKAISHI was established in Shizuoka, Japan in 1964 (the same
prefecture as the famous icon, Mt. Fuji). AKAISHI started in
the material processing industry and eventually transitioned
to manufacturing products for foot conditions/disorder care.
The insoles for hallux valgus and plantar fasciitis were highly
rated among healthcare professionals and their success led to
the development of sandals. Today, research and development for
these products is performed based on anatomy, kinesiology, and
podiatry. AKAISHI conducts these research and development activities
with the Movement and Neuromuscular Research Center at the Niigata
University of Health and Welfare under the guidance of professors
who are authority figures in the fields of kinesiology and functional
anatomy.
Most sandals are made either
flat or with very little arch support. “Custom” sandals are only
custom fitted to support the arch. The advantage that AKAISHI
provides is Total Foot Care. Total Foot Care involves working
to diminish or prevent foot pain, weary feet, and foot deformations.
Simply improving an arch support will not solve these problems.
Foot problems can only truly be solved when posture, the bone
structure of the foot, and gait (way of walking) are collectively
improved. There are many issues that need to be addressed. The
functionality of arch support, securing the metatarsus, spreading
of the toes, improving posture, and providing support for kick-up
during walking are all integrated into the design of each line
of AKAISHI sandals.
